FINE PROBLEM: We never expected to have this problem: Many of our new exhibit
cases are so handsome, they draw attention from the artifacts they contain! It's
a fine "problem" to have, and we owe it all to Tom Froio, one of Battleship
Cove's "carpenter's mates. Born in Brockton,
MA, on Armistice Day in 1935, Froio is a former Marine who served on several attack
transports in the Sixth Fleet. Following his enlistment, this talented leatherneck
took advantage of the GI Bill and enrolled in the Franklin Trade School to study
furniture-making, a skill he puts to great use while fashioning exhibit cabinets
for Battleship Cove. Now, Froio's craftmanship is on display in such popular exhibits
as the D-Day Invasion Room, the Pearl Harbor Room, and the Medal of Honor exhibit. Do
