Exhibit Exploration at Battleship Cove

History and science at your fingertips …“hands-on” exhibits where exploring, touching and experiencing is not just allowed, it is encouraged! Learn firsthand about life aboard these historic ships and the brave sailors who served on them.

Log Book
A self-guided program where students assume the identity of a World War II crewmember completing many of the daily tasks at hand. Students connect the past with the present through a pen pal program with military personnel currently serving throughout the world.

Letters Home
Explore the two sides of World War II in the United States, overseas and the homefront, through letters. Students examine the predecessor to e-mail, V-Mail. Students have the opportunity to take on the role of a World War II crewmember and write a letter home on supplied V-Mail and mail it in the original ship's Post Office.

Tech Trails
Investigate technology aboard ship and learn how the technology of yesterday has enabled technological developments of today. Students explore the history of technology and math, science and technology career paths of today.

All self-guided activities are available upon arrival and are free of charge with paid admission to the museum.
