Ken Preble came to Battleship Cove in 1974. A graduate of Somerset High School and a lifelong resident, Ken is the most long-term employee at the Cove. His career began when he was assigned to the Cove through a work program sponsored by the City of Fall River. Ken's career as a ship maintenance professional has been broad and varied. Throughout his tenure he has demonstrated a strong desire to improve himself personally and professionally. His hard work and dedication led to his promotion to his current position, First Lieutenant, in 1987.

As First Lieutenant, Ken is responsible for the overall maintenance, upkeep and repair of all the vessels, grounds, and buildings at the Battleship Cove complex. In the absence of the Executive Director and the Chief Operating Officer, the First Lieutenant is the senior maintenance manager on board.
