In May of 2009, Battleship Cove launched a new and exciting addition to our Nautical Nights overnight camping program. On Saturday mornings and afternoons, campers may visit with veterans in their work areas on board the USS Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr. and learn about Navy life during the Cold War.

Veterans now regale campers with stories about the day-to-day operations of the vessels on which they served, and will engage visitors by sharing their first-hand expertise on subjects like radio operation, fire control, and DASH (Drone Anti-Submarine Helicopters). What better way to learn about these ships than to talk to the people who served aboard them?

This new offering replaces the former program at the Marine Museum, which will still be open to visitation but not part of our overnight package.

FLAG DAY AT BATTLESHIP COVE:
Do you know your flag etiquette? On Flag Day, June 14, come to Battleship Cove and learn how to fold the American Flag, the significance of each fold, interesting facts about our flag, and display procedures. Bring your old, worn flags to Battleship Cove and dispose of them the legal way.
